ALLOWANCES FOR PRIMARY TEACHER II
Hardship Allowances
This type of allowance is payable to tsc teachers working in areas perceived as hardship areas. These areas are normally faced with insecurity, acute shortage of water and extreme harsh weather conditions.
The amount is paid to teachers to act as a compensation for the harsh environment teachers face while at work. It motivates teachers to keep working.
Additionally, grade B5 teachers enjoy a hardship allowance of ksh 6,600 . This amount is added on top of the salary by the end of every month.
Commuter Allowance
Commuter allowance is payable to teachers by the Teachers service commission. This allowance helps teachers to cover the travel expenses to and from their work places.
The allowance acts as a motivating factor to teachers to help them travel to school in time and do their work.
Grade B5 teachers are entitled to a commuter allowance of ksh. 4,000.
Leave Allowance
This type of allowance is normally paid once a year. It is paid in January together with the salary. Teachers under this grade are entitled to an allowance of ksh. 4,000
