TSC Phase 2 Salary Increment Beneficiaries. Teachers employed by the Teachers service commission have received good news. The good news concerns their anticipated phase 2 salary increment. It is expected to take effect in July 2024.
Funds meant to fully implement the TSC phase 2 salary increment for teachers has now been set aside. The budget committee led by Hon. Ndidi Nyoro has confirmed so. It is therefore certain that teachers will now receive the salary boost.
The good news was announced during the budget appropriation of 2024-2025. Chairman of budget appropriation committee and also Member of parliament for Kiharu, Ndidi Nyoro confirmed.
In the latest education ministry budget allocation, the Teachers service commission will get a bigger share.
A collective bargaining agreement was signed between the TSC and some unions. These unions represent teachers from various categories.
The unions include;
- Kenya national union of teachers KNUT
- Kenya union of post primary education teachers KUPPET
- Kenya union of special needs education teachers KUSNET
The CBA was signed late last year, August 20223.
The TSC first phase of salary increment was scheduled to run from 1st July 2023 till the 30th of June 2024. In addition, the second phase , and the final one is expected to run from the 1st of July 2024 till the 30th of June 2025.
SECOND PHASE BENEFICIARIES
However, even though teachers will receive the salary boost, not all teachers will be beneficiaries. Reports indicate that some teachers are set to miss on this salary increment .
Teachers who were in service as at 1st July 2023 backwards are the only ones who will be beneficiaries. This is because when the CBA was being signed, it only captured teachers employed before that period. Therefore, those teachers employed after that period should be prepared to miss the salary increment.
ALLOWANCES TO BE FACTORED IN
In addition to the salary increment, it should be noted that allowances like house allowance will also be factored in during the salary increment .
