DPTE Updated Fee Structure 2024. Diploma in Primary Teacher Education Training is meant for individuals willing to be primary school teacher. For those who are qualified and willing to pursue that, it’s prudent to know the fee structure. Additionally, we’ll also highlight the other basic requirements.
Recently, the Teachers service commission laid out plans to phase out the P1 teaching certificate. This implies that henceforth, P1 certificate program will no longer be offered. Therefore teachers willing to be primary school teachers must have a minimum of a diploma.
The DPTE certificate has now been declared a mandatory upgrading program for all P1 teachers .
The official fee structure for DPTE has both boarding fees and tuition charges.
ADVANTAGES OF THE PTE CERTIFICATE
Following the commission’s move to officially phase out P1 certificates, individuals with P1 certificate have no option than to upgrade. This is the only option left for them to qualify for teaching in the Kenyan primary schools.
DURATION OF TRAINING
Training normally takes a period of 3 years till completion. However, for those who are upgrading from the P1 certificate, it takes one year to complete.

Term 1 fees
Students have to pay the following;
- Student Admission Fee: sh 2,500
- The Tuition & Boarding Fee is sh 31,000
Total fees for Term 1 is sh33,500
Term 2 fees
The student pays
- The Tuition and Boarding Fee sh 23,000
Total fees for Term 2 is sh 23,000
Term 3 fees
The student pays the following
- The tuition and Boarding Fee is sh 23,000
Total fees for Term 3 is sh 23,000
The Grand Total for DPTE sh 79,500
NOTE
The above mentioned fees may vary slightly depending on the type of institution one joins. However, the margin is negligible.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS( Diploma in primary Education Training)
Usually, during admission day, the students are required to carry with them the following documents;
- An Original admission letter
- The originals and 3 copies of each academic certificates.
- Student original and three copies of National ID Card.
- Student original and three copies of the Birth certificate.
- Student Original and 2 two copies of marriage certificate only for married women
- 2 color passport size recent photographs.
- A clear and duly filled and signed medical report by a Government Medical Doctor from a Government Hospital. The document shows a declaration of student medical condition will not bar you from admission.
CONCLUSION
Students will be required to carry some other personal effects and other necessary requirements for use at school.
