Categories Of TSC Teachers To Enjoy Double Promotions Identified. Quite a good number of teachers are set to enjoy double promotions from the Teachers service commission. The first cohort of teachers to benefit are the P1 teachers.
Details indicate that P1 TSC teachers who were successful in the December 2023 interviews will still reap big. This is because another opportunity for promotion arose when TSC announces 6000 slots for them. The slots were meant for deployment to junior secondary schools.
Quite a good number of P1 teachers have upgraded to a diploma and degrees. Several of these teachers with degrees were among the more than 36,000 teachers promoted. Sources indicate they will also be factored in deployment to junior secondary.

However, it should be noted that TSC has strict tough conditions for primary school teachers to be deployed to junior schools. The commission affirmed that only primary school teachers with a degree in secondary option will be considered for deployment to junior schools. The deadline for application was 18th March, 2024.
TSC further gave an opportunity to PTE teachers during the third phase of teacher promotions to be posted to junior schools.

In addition, there are mandatory set minimum requirements TSC set for P1 teachers to be deployed to junior schools. Among the conditions are having a valid registration certificate with the Teachers service commission. Additionally, the teachers must be serving as a primary school teacher under permanent and pensionable terms.

TSC further dictates that all applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Education. A minimum grade of C+ at KCSE is also a requirement. In addition, the said applicant must have at least a C+ grade in the two teaching subjects.
However, in a case of teachers who used the old system, they should posses two principles and one subsidiary pass at the A level.
In spite of that, every teacher MUST have done at least 8 units in all the two specialized teaching subjects . They should also not be serving an interdiction or be facing any disciplinary case.
Teachers who are holders of Bachelor of education degree primary option are not eligible.
